A Fibreglass Koi Pond is the installation of choice

Whether you plan a medium or large Koi pond installation for your precious specimens a fibreglass pond liner should be at the top of the list of budgeting priorities. Rubber butyl liners are popular amongst Koi pond builders. However, flexible liners have their limitations.

Fibreglass koi pond liners - their advantages

Unlike fibreglass liners, butyl liners provide no flexural strength and rigidity to the ponds foundations. Remember that Koi ponds generally have upwards of 2500 gallon capacity that is roughly equivalent of holding upwards of ten tons of water. With such weights the additional strengthening properties that a fibreglass liner gives a koi pond is a real bonus.

Another advantage of fibreglass over butyl is that it will easily mould and incorporate complex pond designs or unusual ornamental layouts with tight corners. Flexible liners will find it hard to cope and can often produce unsightly overlaps and creases.

Then there are all your expensive and vital pump and filtration systems. They need to be sealed into the fabric of the pond. No problem. With on-site fibreglass moulding it's a breeze to ensure a 100% seal of all pipe work, skimmers and bottom drains. Your Koi pond will be water tight however complicated its plumbing.

Lastly but not least there are your fish. The seamless super smooth finish our professional team of laminators can produce means the potential for skin and scale damage to your fish is greatly reduced. And talking of damage - butyl and pvc liners don't like herons. It hasn't been unknown for these birds to miss their target and puncture a pond liner!

The best choice, the best recommendation

Now that we have hopefully convinced you that a fibreglass liner is the best option for your pond you need to find a company that you can trust to do an excellent job at a price that is reasonable. Our team of onsite moulders is an obvious choice. We have been helping Koi owners realize their dreams for many years now.

In fact, back in 2005, one of the leading Koi businesses, the East Riding Koi Company entrusted us with the task of re-lining their massive 24,000 gallon pond with fibreglass. They were so satisfied with the quality of finish and performance of the grp liner that we produced they made us their preferred supplier of onsite fibreglassing. Recommendations among the Koi enthusiast community don't come stronger than that.

FAQ's

QI want to include foam lining to insulate my koi pond can you work with that?
APolyurethane foam lining boards can certainly be used in conjunction with our fibreglass pond lining system. The foam boards can be used as an alternative to rendering the brick or block work of your Koi pond.
QIs fibreglass a really safe material to line my Koi pond?
AYes, 100 percent safe if done right. Use the right materials, apply the right method, use the right people - call on professionals like our team at Gee-Grp. Never use laminating companies that don't specialise or have experience in pond lining. Our grp liner service is good enough and safe enough for London Zoo and East Riding Koi Company. So you can be confident our fibreglass lining system is just right for your Koi pond, too.
QI see you are based in Harwich, Essex. Will you come out and do my Koi pond all the way over here in Wales?
AYes, of course we can. Our friendly onsite fibreglassing team travel all over the UK to help Koi enthusiasts and pond owners produce water features that look good and last longer. The finish of our fibreglass Koi ponds cannot be beaten!
